Maintaining the fire rating where piping passes through rated assemblies
When piping runs through a fire-rated wall or floor, the opening around it has to be protected so the assembly keeps its fire rating. Fire-rated pipe wrap is a specialized material wrapped around the pipe at and around the penetration — in a fire, it helps maintain the separation and slow the spread of flames and smoke.
Metro Insulation Inc. installs fire-rated pipe wrap on high-rise residential projects across Toronto, the GTA, and Ontario, working to project specifications and coordinating with the mechanical contractor’s schedule.
